What does it mean to be young and homeless in Edmonton? We talk to youth who are homeless or have been formerly homeless about the challenges about being alone on the streets. We head to the streets ourselves with YOUCAN, a local non-profit that assists at-risk youth, to talk about the broader picture of youth homelessness in the city. We also showcase a new community-university partnership at the University of Alberta that looks to engage at-risk youth through a network of youth leaders. Through these conversations, it is clear that building trusting, meaningful relationships is key in supporting our most vulnerable community members - youth.
