CJSR first graced the airwaves on Saturday, January 7th, 1984. Ever since then, CJSR has been creating and broadcasting radio that challenges the status quo, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. That's a lot of radio.

So, here in the News Department, we've decided to create a series to highlight some of the best spoken word programming that we've produced during our illustrious 29 years on the 88.5 FM airwaves. Dig deep, there's plenty of amazing audio to dust off below.

David Barsamian: Freedom to Read 2012

This episode of CJS(Archives) — the first in an ongoing series dedicated to presenting some of the best spoken word programming that has previously graced the airwaves on 88.5 FM in Edmonton — features an extended keynote address delivered by David Barsamian, the founder and producer of Alternative Radio. Barsamian spoke at the Edmonton Public Library as part of Freedom to Read on March 3rd, 2012.
